Farmers Market Days and Hours

The Carlsbad Village Farmers Market between State and Roosevelt south of Grand Ave operates Wednesday and Saturdays 1-5 PM.

Shop Carlsbad Village Web Site

The Carlsbad Village Business Association presents the Shop Carlsbad Village Web Site

The site has potential but while the e-mail blast provides me current event information, the site itself is stale, not expiring old events or listing the new ones. I guess the outfit needs a web master.

There is a nice listing of the member organizations along with phone numbers and web sites when available. I hope this doesn't open the door to lots of spam for the members.

Palomar Transfer Station Information - Taking stuff to the dump

Needing to take a load of stuff to the dump, I attempted to confirm days/hours on the net. I couldn't find anything so maybe this will help you.

First, while the dump, actually a transfer station appears to be operated by Waste Management, signs say Palomar Transfter station and the operator is an "Allied Waste Company"

The facility is open to the public 7:30 AM - 4 PM Saturday and Sunday. It is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.

The commercial hours are Monday-Friday 8-5 and Saturday 5:30-4.

The posted phone is 760-603-0153.

You actually find the place on Orion between Faraday and Palomar Airport Road.

I paid $9.45 for a load consisting of an old chair and two twin mattresses as well as two bike tires I was surprised they would accept. Car tires are not accepted.

A sign says to make out checks to "Sycamore Landfill"

A rate increase was posted for June 1, 2008

Apparently the art must depict the Carlsbad Flower Fields.

It will be interesting to see what is submitted, or at least the winner.

Free Wi-Fi from AT&T for a limited time in Southern California

AT&T is offering free access to Wi-Fi hotspots in Southern California for a limited time as a way to help those in Southern California recover from the recent fires.

It's not clear if all AT&T hotspots are free or whether they are only the ones normally available on the basic service.

Here's what AT&T says AT&T Web Page

Note that it took a while for AT&T to get it's act together. There was a report of one victim of the fire being asked to IMMEDIATELY cough up $300 for a set top box that had burned in the fire with the insinuation, at least, that the victim should have grabbed the box on the way out when evacuating.

Read the story that was posted. Story

Reverse 911 - What about cell phones?  Question  Help Harvey

During the recent fires, many people were notified by phone through a "Reverse 911" process that evacuation was required. But what about those who only have cell phones and the many situations where a cell phone or land line number are not local exchanges?

Recycle Phone Books

You can place used phone books in the blue recycling bins in Carlsbad. Besides the phone books and newspapers, you can also place magazines and glossy, office, color and printer paper in these bins.

This information is according to Dan Weinheimer, Environmental Services Associate Analyst.

Carlsbad Community Theater  Question  Help elise

Recently I heard of Carlsbad Commmunity Theater but I don't know if it's really for adults as well as children. Are the productions high quality or is it mainly for parents to see their children perform?
