Against the law in Carlsbad
California Vehicle Code provides for municipalities to govern whether bicycles can be written on sidewalks.
21100. Local authorities may adopt rules and regulations by ordinance or resolution regarding the following matters:
(h) Operation of bicycles, and, as specified in Section 21114.5, electric carts by physically disabled persons, or persons 50 years of age or older, on the public sidewalks.
Carlsbad Municipal Code code prohibits riding bicycles on sidewalks in the city
10.56.010 Riding on sidewalks.
It is unlawful to ride a bicycle upon any sidewalk in the city. Law enforcement personnel shall be exempt from the provision of this section when in the performance of their duties. (Ord. NS-151 § 1, 1991: Ord. 3062 § 8)
