Construction of Phase 1 of the Oceanside to San Diego Rail Trail Carlsbad section may soon begin. The January 18, 2005 City Council meeting will consider awarding a contract to begin putting the trail in place.

The initial phase will include signing and striping the section from the southern city limit to the Pointsettia Coaster station and construction of a multi-modal route inside NCTD's right of way between Oak Avenue and Tamarack Avenue. The initial phase of the trail will either be on city streets or more than 50 feet from the center line of the NCTD's operating right-of-way.
